Because sometimes one time just isn’t enough

For many men, the idea of having multiple orgasms in a single session is nothing more than a pipe dream. And, that’s cool – you may be completely satisfied with a single-orgasm per session lifestyle. However, if you’re the type of guy who has no problem pushing the boundaries of sexual pleasure, the reality is that male multiple orgasms are quite easy to achieve — you just need to know how.

So, if you’re keen to know how to experience multiple orgasms as a man, we’re here to cover the basics of how to get more bang for your buck when it comes to male orgasm.

First, is it even possible for men to have multiple orgasms?

What we know so far is that, yes, men can have multiple orgasms. However, it isn’t a common practice. A 2016 published review found less than 10% of men in their 20s and less than 7% of men over 30 reported having experienced multiple orgasms.

The types of orgasms

The first thing you need to understand is that there are two different types of orgasms for men: ejaculatory and non-ejaculatory.

Ejaculatory orgasms

Ejaculatory orgasms are the type that most men are familiar with; they are accompanied by a release of semen from the penis.

Non-ejaculatory orgasms

Non-ejaculatory orgasms, on the other hand, are orgasms that occur without any ejaculation. Both types of orgasms feel great, but when it comes to greater sexual stimulation, non-ejaculatory orgasms tend to be the more intense variation of orgasm.

Why is this important to know?

The secret to having multiple orgasms as a man is to learn how to separate orgasm from ejaculation. When most guys orgasm, they ejaculate simultaneously. However, it is possible to have an orgasm without ejaculating, and it’s this non-ejaculatory orgasm that will allow you to keep going for rounds 2, 3, and 4, without the need to slip into recovery mode – or, a refractory period – in between.

Let’s talk about “edging”

So, how do you keep the sexual arousal rolling to the point of having multiple orgasms?

This can be done by practicing what’s known as “edging.” Edging is the act of stopping yourself from ejaculating right before you reach the point of no return – essentially a form of ejaculatory control.

By doing this repeatedly, you will train your body to differentiate between orgasm and ejaculation. Once you’ve mastered edging, you’ll be able to have non-ejaculatory orgasms on command — and trust us, the effort and patience of learning are well worth it.

How to practice edging using the start-stop technique

You can practice edging on your own when masturbating or with a partner.

The first step towards a multi-orgasmic sex life is to get yourself aroused – the longer you spend building up sexual tension, the better. Once you’ve warmed up a little, start stimulating your penis using whatever sexual experience feels best for you – hand jobs, oral sex, vaginal penetration, anal penetration. The bedroom is your playground, so don’t be afraid to safely experiment with a range of sensations within your boundaries.

As you’re stimulating your penis, pay close attention to your body and try to identify when you’re about to reach the point of no return—that moment when ejaculation feels inevitable.

Then the final step, when you feel yourself getting close to ejaculation, back off on the stimulation and prevent ejaculation by letting yourself calm down for a few seconds or a few minutes before starting up again. This is your rest and recovery mode, or refractory period.

Repeat this process of edging yourself to the brink of orgasm and then backing off multiple times; with each cycle, you should be able to last longer and get closer to your goal of having a non-ejaculatory orgasm.

How to practice edging using the squeeze technique

Depending on your body’s sensitivity limit, it may take longer for you to delay orgasm using the start-top method. That’s where the squeeze technique can roll on in and save your dreams of a multi-orgasmic sex life.

To play out the squeeze technique, follow the start-stop technique until you’ve almost reached the point of no return, then squeeze the tip of your penis for about 30 seconds before resuming. This technique should desensitise the penis until you’re ready for another round of action.

Tips for Achieving Multiple Orgasms

Now that you know the basics to becoming a multi-orgasmic man, here are a few extra tips to help you make it happen:

Get in the right mindset

Relax and clear your head before getting into the mood. The better your mental state, the easier it will be to focus on edging and reach full body orgasm again and again.

If you’re struggling to get in the mood for sexual stimulation or are dealing with performance anxiety, learn 8 ways to boost your sex drive.

Experiment with different methods of edging

Everyone is different, so there’s no one right way to edge. Experiment with different techniques, sexual positions, and sex toys until you find what works for you. Some men prefer to masturbate alone to increase their tolerance for sexual sensations, whereas other men prefer the help of a partner.

At the end of the day, it’s all about working within your boundaries, in whatever way feels the most comfortable to you.

Strengthen the pelvic floor muscles with Kegel exercises

Turns out, that a strong pelvic floor is the key to multi-orgasmic intercourse, with men who practice pelvic floor exercises being more likely to develop better ejaculatory control.

Kegel squeezes are an effective way to strengthen the pubococcygeus muscle (pc muscle) – the pelvic muscle that extends from the tailbone to the pubic bone to support the pelvic organs (learn more about male anatomy).

The best part is that you can practice pelvic floor exercises anytime, anywhere, and no one will even know you’re doing them. Simply engage the pc muscles – the same muscles you use to stop your flow when urinating- and hold for 10-seconds. Then repeat 10 times.

If you’re not sure if you’re engaging the right muscles, try the process when urinating before practicing with an empty bladder.

Be patient and realistic

It takes most people some time and practice to master edging. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t happen immediately; keep at it and you’ll get there.

Get the prostate involved, if that’s your thing

If the standard penile orgasm is proving difficult to repeat in a single session, many men find prostate orgasms to be a viable alternative to reach multi-orgasm status in the bedroom. In fact, some guys can have a prostate orgasm without even being hard.

Now, prostate orgasms aren’t every man’s form of a good time. But, if you’re willing to share the love with your prostate, or P-spot, you’ll need to move south toward the anal region and either enter via the anus or perineum (the sensitive skin between the scrotum and anus).

You’ll know you’ve hit the P-spot when you feel a small, fleshy bulb. Be warned, that touching the prostate may cause the sensation of needing to pee, however, this is a surefire sign you’ve reached your desired anatomical destination. From here, it’s a matter of stroking the p-spot until you reach orgasm or near orgasm in the case of a multiple orgasm attempt.

Anal play and the risk of bacterial infection

Prostate stimulation can be great. And, we’re all for male multiple orgasms. However, the bacteria living in and around the anus can easily spread to other body parts and cause infection if you’re not careful.

To reduce your risk of bacterial transmission, wash anything that comes into contact with the anus (hands, sex toys, etc.) before switching positions, or moving on to another sexual activity. If you wear a condom, remove and replace it before re-entering other parts of your partner’s body (e.g. don’t alternate between anal penetration and vaginal penetration using the same condom).
